Legalise and activate the electricity supply to your property
The Electrical Newsletter (or Low-Voltage Electrical Installation Certificate – CIE) is the official document issued by an authorised installer which certifies that the electrical installation in your home, business premises or industrial unit complies with the Low-Voltage Electrotechnical Regulations (REBT) and with current safety standards.
At S&C Energy Consulting We simplify the entire administrative process. We visit your property, carry out the required checks and handle the technical report and registration with the Regional Ministry of Industry so that the supplier can activate your supply without any hitches.
In which circumstances do you need to apply for the CIE or electrical certificate?
New Supply Registrations
Not applicable to newly built homes, commercial premises being occupied for the first time, or properties where the supply has been disconnected due to non-payment or inactivity for more than three years.
Power Increases
If the contracted power you require exceeds the maximum permissible power stated on your current certificate, the distribution company will require a new CIE to authorise the increase.
Installations over 20 years old
Electricity suppliers require the Electrical Installation Certificate to be renewed when the previous certificate is more than 20 years old and a change of account holder or a contractual amendment is requested.
Distributor Requirements / Inspection
SResolution of cases involving irregularities, modifications following technical inspections, or changes from single-phase to three-phase power in commercial and industrial premises.
How we obtain your electrical certificate, step by step
- Step 1: Application and data collection
Please contact us by telephone or via the online form, stating the reason why the distributor is asking you for your CIE (new connection, increase in power, etc.).
- Step 2: On-site inspection by an authorised technician
A certified installer will visit your property to check the fuse box, earth connections, wiring and safety features.
- Step 3: Technical adaptation (only if necessary)
If we identify any minor issues that would prevent your installation from passing certification, we will rectify them immediately to bring your installation into line with current regulations.
- Step 4: Registration with the Department of Industry and submission
We process the approval and registration with the official industry body online and provide you with your CIE, complete with the verification code, so that you can submit it to your energy supplier.
